Cacao, known as the medicine of the heart or the Food of the Gods is a delicious plant present in many indigenous cultures. Cacao is what gives chocolate its chocolaty taste.
Long before it became the mass produced sweet treat that we know today, cacao was a sacred plant consumed during rituals and ceremonies by indigenous tribes in Central and South America.

- ABOUT OUR CEREMONIAL GRADE CACAO -
SINGLE ORIGIN :
Our cacao is grown in the mountain region of Alta Verapaz,
close to the famous waterfalls of Semuc Champey.
Tuq’tuquilal is a farmers co-operative with more than 20 farmers,
our focus in breeds selection allows us to distribute highly aromatic criollo hybrid beans that are carefully fermented, dried, selected and processed without the use of electricity & following ancestral roasting and peeling techniques.
- OUR CRIOLLO -
● 100% criollo cacao block bamboo molded
● Fermented for 7 days in wood cases with banana leaves
● Oven toasted, light roast
● Hand peeled
● Stone mill ground
Our cacao is entirely transformed locally using ancestral roasting and peeling techniques.
We process the cacao into a liquid form which is then molded and solidified in natural molds,
This is 100% cacao chocolate
(with around 55% cacao butter and 45% powder which is the natural ratio of cacao).
